On October 10, 2026, Kyoto Chanokura K.K. launched MUKU Kyoto, a new brand that designs matcha for milk, in the US, and began selling its first product, Oat Milk Reserve Ceremonial Matcha. Built around the idea “Matcha, made only for oat milk,” the brand is available through its official online store in the US.

Matcha, designed for milk
America drinks most of its matcha in lattes. Yet matcha changes once it meets milk, and the right matcha changes with the milk. MUKU designs matcha for each milk: oat milk, whole milk, each with a blend of its own. Its first blend, Oat Milk Reserve, is made only for oat milk lattes. It is naturally sweet with no sugar needed, and it stays vivid in the milk instead of disappearing.
Two hundred years of tea judgment, blended by Japan’s champion tea master
The blend was designed by our in-house tea master, Keisuke Hori — The Tenth-Dan Tea Master, champion of Japan’s National Tea Appraisal Competition. Into a single cup, the oat milk latte, we poured more than 200 years of Kyoto tea judgment, honed since our founding in 1818. The blend was blind-tasted by 100 matcha-latte lovers across two tastings in Los Angeles, and the one they chose became MUKU.
“Matcha shows its true character the moment it meets milk. That conviction guided every blend we tested.” — Keisuke Hori, The Tenth-Dan Tea Master

What’s in the name
MUKU comes from the Japanese word 無垢, meaning purity. Nothing but matcha and milk: no sugar, no syrup, nothing to hide.
